Midland University, a private, Christian, liberal arts university in Fremont, Nebraska is seeking a HVAC
Technician/Facilities Equipment Mechanic. This is a full-time exempt position which reports to the
Director of Facilities.

The General Maintenance Worker is part of a comprehensive program of maintenance of the facilities,
equipment, and furnishings of the University so that all students, employees, and the community are
assured of a clean, safe, and healthy place in which to learn and lead in the world with purpose.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs light repair and maintenance functions in internal campus facilities, including building construction, sheetrock, tiling, painting or other finishing work.
  • Performs external grounds maintenance which includes pruning, trimming, weeding, snow removal, parking lot cleaning, trash removal, painting, mowing, edging, etc.
  • Performs set up and tear down activities associated with internal campus events.
  • Assist with mail processing function including mail sorting and operation of the postage meter
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned to support the maintenance team.

 Experience Needed:

  • 3-5 year of building maintenance experience required, including light electrical, lights mechanical repair, interior finish constructions, and/or general grounds maintenance.
  • Demonstrate light mechanical and light electrical equipment maintenance abilities.
  • Ability to operate safely and efficiently a forklift, tractor and mower.
  • Prior vocational or other technical school, apprenticeship preferred.

 Education & Certification Needed:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle class specific certifications required.
  • Certifications in building construction preferred.

 Skills & Abilities Needed:

  • Skills in effective verbal, listening and written communication to consult with internal customers and external vendors to understand issues and recommend solutions.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work well independently and as a team member
