Midland University is seeking a dynamic and innovative full-time Education faculty member to provide relentlessly relevant instruction and leadership in the Walker School of Education. This position is well suited for someone who is a generalist in K-12 education. The Walker School of Education houses a Teacher Education Program that is fully accredited by the Nebraska Department of Education.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses that provide foundation and introductory content with a focus on Education Topics, Introduction to Special Education, Multicultural Education and/or Technology for Teachers (approximately 24 credit hours /year).
  • Create dynamic and relevant learning opportunities both in and out of the classroom
  • Participate in the supervision of students during field based experiences (FBE) and/or clinical experience.
  • Assist with hiring and mentoring full-time and adjunct faculty. Mentor students.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement for curriculum, instruction, and assessment that aligns with state and university standards.
  • Support efforts for data collection regarding program goals and for state reporting when necessary for program review.
  • Partners across the university on student recruiting, retention, and graduation.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff on advancing the university through committees, task forces, and strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in department and university wide meetings and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Education along with an active or past K-12 teaching and/or administrative endorsements. A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of K-12 teaching experience.
  • Evidence of effective teaching and/or administrative supervision in a K-12 education setting is required; post-secondary teaching and development of curriculum experience is preferred.
  • Evidence of innovative thinking, teaching, and action.

  • Understanding of and ability to integrate methods coursework (i.e. science, math, reading, language arts, and social studies methods) in a K-12 education setting.
  • The ability to facilitate meaningful experiences and reflection for teacher candidates who are learning to respond to coaching, understand content, build learning communities, support all learners, plan and deliver effective instruction, and model professionalism.
  • The ability to effectively work with a diverse, multi-cultural population with comfort, teaching effectively across the spectrum of education levels and fields.
