Midland University, a private, Christian, liberal arts university in Fremont, Nebraska (just outside of metro Omaha), is seeking a dynamic, innovative, passionate Director to provide collaborative leadership and strategic direction for the continuous growth of our Arts program. The Midland Arts program offers a wide variety of opportunities for students of any major to pursue their passion for the arts through co-curricular experiences and academic programs.

This role is charged with developing and implementing a strategic plan to support the growth of the program. The Director works closely with the administration, staff and faculty of the Vocal and Instrumental Music, Theater, Technical, Dance, Speech and Debate, and Studio Arts programs to create collaborative programs and activities that will recruit and retain students, as well as engage the surrounding communities in meaningful performance.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Oversee and implement innovative growth, marketing, recruitment and retention strategies that help grow the co-curricular Arts program
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to foster a collegial work environment that encourages change and innovation; and an ability to interact effectively and work productively, cooperatively, and collaboratively with a variety of individuals and groups
  • Exhibit drive and tenacity around achieving goals, continuous improvement, and problem solving
  • Possess a passion for working with/mentoring young adults and cultivating talent
  • Seek and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to expand opportunities for students in the arts
  • Understand the vision of Midland and implement the vision in the Arts
  • Teach courses in their expertise area as needed

Qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership, budget management, strategic planning and marketing or recruitment
  • Possess strong goal-orientation with the ability to think strategically, execute effectively and utilize data to drive decisions
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive atmosphere for faculty, staff, and students
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field required; Master's degree preferred
