Midland University, a private, Christian, liberal-arts college in Fremont, Nebraska, (just outside of metro Omaha) is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach survey and upper-level World History and Politics courses either in person or online. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering lectures, designing engaging classroom activities, providing timely feedback on assignments, and responding to student inquiries within 24-hours, meeting with them individually as needed. Courses are offered in 16-week terms. Terms begin in August and January.
Required Qualifications:
- A master's degree in non-U.S. History or closely related discipline
- Experience teaching at the college level or teaching/training adults
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD or ABD (all but dissertation) status
- Experience teaching in a synchronous and/or asynchronous online format
- Familiarity with the Canvas LMS
Courses Taught:
The selected candidate will teach up to three courses each semester Fall 2020 and Spring 2021; the offerings will be a combination of the courses listed below:
- POL 112 Introduction to Political Science
- HIS 153 World History I (to 1500)
- HIS 154 World History II (since 1500)
- HIS 224 Special Topics in Global History
- HIS 303 Global Metropolis
- HIS 423 Empires to Nations
