Midland University is seeking a Social Media Specialist to join our Marketing & Communications team. This position plays an integral role in our pursuit of creating a student-centric, ambitious, and relentlessly creative team. This position is responsible for telling the institutional stories of Midland University using compelling mediums through our social media platforms to achieve strategic marketing goals, increase brand awareness, and foster community engagement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing, publishing, and reporting on original, high-quality organic and paid content strategically crafted to achieve analytics and conversion goals
  • Responsible for training and enforcing brand standards across internal teams to promote a cohesive and integrated social strategy for all Midland-related accounts
  • Responsible for strategic alignment with our content marketing goals and strategies, including social listening and psychographic profile development
  • Responsible for staying up-to-date with social platform algorithm changes, best practices, and for providing regular recommendations on possible new social platforms for Midland
  • Responsible for assisting in graphic design, photography, videography, and editorial needs
  • Responsible for live coverage of events, including some nights and weekends

The ideal candidate must have

  • BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field
  • Experience in running professional data-driven social media campaigns and strategy
  • Adobe CS experience in Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Photography and videography skills
  • Basic knowledge of marketing best practices, industry trends and standards, content creation, and serious design skills
  • Test, analyze, and optimize social media creatives, strategy, and metrics
  • Extraordinary written, verbal, and editorial communication skills
  • Organized, proactive planner with attention to detail
  • Professional and proactive work ethic
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Collaborative team player with a positive attitude, high level of energy, and commitment to brand standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with social scheduling and listening software
  • Google Analytics and Google Ads experience
  • Facebook Ads Manager
