Midland University, a private liberal-arts college in Fremont, Nebraska, (just outside of metro Omaha) is
seeking an exceptional Chemistry faculty member. This is a full-time position in the College of Health
Professions beginning August 2025.
Responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:
● Teaching course and laboratory content for Chemistry courses
● Engaging students with innovative teaching practices and research
● Participation in student recruitment and retention
● Outcome assessment and data collection to ensure continuous improvement and to meet
regulatory requirements
● Serving on departmental and university committees that support the Mission of Midland
University and the College of Health Professions
● Providing service to the College of Health Professions which may include curriculum
development, implementation and coordination
● Providing laboratory preparation and guidance with laboratory manager and/or work study
students
● Mentoring students for undergraduate progression and post-graduation educational or
employment opportunities
● Maintaining subject area and pedagogical expertise as well as chemical hygiene and safety
training knowledge
● Maintenance of laboratory instruments and chemical storage/disposal per safety protocols
● Other duties as may be assigned by the Academic Affairs office
Qualifications:
● Master's Degree in Chemistry from an accredited institution
o PhD (or ABD) in Chemistry strongly preferred
● A passion for academic excellence, effective teaching and educational innovation
● Knowledge of curriculum development/assessment and innovative teaching methods including
technology and hybrid/online education preferred
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
● Previous teaching experience at the university level, scholarship/professional development and
service to a university, the profession or the community
● Familiarity with Canvas or other Learning Management System that facilitates face to face,
hybrid, and online teaching modalities
● Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
● The ability to foster a positive work culture that encourages change and innovation
● Ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
