Midland University is seeking a Director of Academic Core Experience to guide the campus-wide learning outcomes framework; coordinate multiple student success classes; lead the academic support resources team; and assist with other academic affairs related projects and programs. The ideal candidate must value diverse insights and have demonstrated experience as a successful collaborator, effective communicator, and problem solver.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the University's integrated Academic Core Experience (ACE)
- Designs and implements innovative Academic First Year Experience (AFYE)
- Oversees implementation of a "marketplace back" ACE
- Coordinates with student affairs, athletics, and performing arts regarding academic experience
- Member of Curriculum Committee, which assesses credit bearing experiences in the ACE, and Co-Curricular DRIVE committee, which evaluates non-credit bearing experiences
- Teaches courses in ACE and oversees facilitators for AFYE courses
- Serves on the Assessment Committee and assists with assessment of ACE courses
- Continuously improves ACE, employing best practices and responding to trends and assessment data, including academic placement and progression
- Designs, implements, and oversees innovative transfer student academic experience
- Develops and directs student academic program support services in ways that promote their usage and that best serve students
- Leads efforts to showcase academic excellence through student awards, research fairs, internship showcase events, etc.
- Develops and helps deliver (FT & PT) faculty orientation and onboarding processes
- Collaborates with deans to ensure the programming provided in various training modalities (workshops, courses, panels, dialogue days, webinars, etc.) aligns to the institutional strategy, as well as any additional identified faculty needs.Identifies and promotes external professional development opportunities; solicits and integrates feedback from faculty and college leadership to inform professional development programming
- Provides guidance to faculty on the development of outcomes-based curriculum and related assessment templates (syllabi, curriculum mapping, course embedded assessments, rubric development, etc.)
- Recommends teaching and learning best practices to Academic Council; conducts course observations as needed
- Special projects as assigned by CAO
Qualifications:
- Relevant Master's degree
- Experience with ACE and/or FYE
- Experience with assessment
- Teaching experience
- Knowledge of trends and best practices in academic core experiences and quality teaching

Wages are commensurate with education, experience and individual strengths.
