The Marketing and Events Specialist will share the responsibility of creating a strategic, integrated, student-centered communications and marketing approach in the Center for Graduate and Professional Studies at the Midland University Omaha location. This candidate will work to raise the visibility and enhance the Center for Graduate and Professional Studies (CGPS) brand, as well as foster community through social media and events.

Job duties will include:

  1. Develop and administer a college-wide social media strategy. Working with the marketing team and other key stakeholders, plan and carry out a social media strategy that engages key audiences and supports CGPS initiatives.
  2. Manage the day-to-day functions of CGPS official social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Conceptualize and produce photos, videos, graphics and written content for these channels. Ensure content is timely, compelling and accurate.
  3. Publicize CGPS news, events and student achievements on the CGPS social media channels as appropriate. Partner with deans and faculty throughout the graduate programs to help create strategies and content for social media.
  4. Manage and execute social media paid advertising according to the marketing plan. Responsible for content and graphic creation in collaboration with the marketing department. Reporting on paid social advertising as needed.
  5. Assist marketing and recruiting departments with researching and developing strategies to attend events, locally and throughout the nearby states. When applicable, be able to create content that will help facilitate the recruiter in presenting the CGPS programs during the event.
  6. Attend large-scale events as needed to gather content to promote the presence of the program on social media.
  7. Collaborate with the marketing department to help gather content, such as video and photos to help with production of blogs for the CGPS website, social media, and email campaigns.
  8. Manage the Omaha visitor experience, as it pertains to room rentals, greeting guests, ensuring the space is neat and ready for meetings, collaborating with other departments to ensure room availability.

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, multimedia, business, marketing, digital marketing or related field
  • Proficient with Abode Suite (in Design, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media tools and digital marketing best practices
  • Able to operate basic camera, lighting, and sound equipment
  • Basic photo editing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (proofreading and copywriting)
  • Very organized with eye for details
